Apple issued a second beta of iOS 5.0.1 to developers on Friday, addressing issues in the first beta and continuing to improve the release ahead of its impending release to the public.

iOS 5.0.1 beta 2 is now available on the iOS Dev Center. You can also install the update over the air from devices that have iOS 5.0.1 beta installed. iOS 5.0.1 beta introduces a new way for developers to specify files that should remain on device, even in low storage situations.
The update comes just two days following the initial iOS 5.0.1 beta, which addressed battery life issues, added multitasking gestures to the first-gen iPad, fixed the Smart Cover security flaw for the iPad 2, and more.
iOS 5.0.1 carries a build number of 9A404, and is available now for all registered iOS developers. The update weighs in at 700-800mb, depending on device.
We’ve been hearing reports that over-the-air updates aren’t working for all developers, and some may have to manually download and restore the firmware through iTunes. Apple’s abridged release notes are as follows:
