iPhone Tip: Use Your Apple Earbuds to Snap Photos

Among iOS 5’s more subtle features is the ability to snap photos on the iPhone by using the volume up button on your Apple earbuds, as Macworld points out. This is a great new feature for avid photographers, as it helps you to keep the phone steady while taking photos.

The other great thing about this is that you can theoretically use this with any headphones which can control volume, so you can potentially have a bluetooth activated shutter button.

I’ve tried it and it works surprisingly well. It does make a big difference to how steady your shot is, as you no longer have to try and touch the screen while masking sure that you don’t move the iPhone.
