Apple Experiences Widespread iCloud and Apple ID Outage

A serious Apple ID outage this morning saw many users unable to log into their accounts, receiving a message stating: “The Apple ID you entered couldn’t be found or your password was incorrect. Please try again.”

The problem was very widespread, reports MacRumors, and affected consumers across the globe, although Apple’s system status pages showed that they didn’t know of any problems. The result was that many users were unable to sync with iCloud, download apps, or access their iTunes Match music and other iTunes content for several hours.

The outage has since been resolved, restoring access to everyone who was affected, but the question remains: What happened? Any why isn’t Apple apologizing to customers?

Apple has not responded to requests for comment.
