New iPad 3 and Facebook Integration References Found in iOS 5.1 Beta

iMore reports on fresh references to two next-gen iPad 3 code names (J1AP and J2AP), as well as a new reference to Facebook discovered by @Jackoplane in iOS 5.1 beta 3, suggesting that Facebook integration may soon be coming to iOS.

Discovering hints in firmware code is a far cry away from verifying that anything will actually happen, however. Apple often tests devices and new functions with their firmware which never see the light of day.

Interestingly, these two code names fall in line with the previous J1 and J2 iPad 3 code names we reported about late last year, which likely refer to separate Wi-Fi and 3G versions of Apple’s upcoming next-gen tablet.

Facebook integration has been rumored for iOS in the past, but has so far never been implemented, reportedly due to internal disagreements between the two companies.
