Apple Becomes Third-Largest Mobile Manufacturer in U.S., Leaves Motorola in the Dust

As Apple continues to expand their stake in the mobile market (smartphones and tablets), Comscore reports that the company has risen past Motorola with a 13.5% share of the U.S. mobile hardware market, making them the third-largest mobile manufacturer in the U.S., behind LG and Samsung.

Apple also showed the strongest growth of the top 5 manufacturers, and was one of only two of the top five to show any growth at all. Surpassing Motorola is a pretty huge achievement, especially considering that Motorola produces dozens of both smartphones and traditional cell phones, while Apple produces only three models.

At this rate, it’s easy to wonder when Apple will overtake LG and Samsung. Considering that neither of the companies showed any growth while Apple rose over 2%, it seems that it’s no longer a matter of if, but when.
