New iMacs to Feature Thinner Footprint, Anti-Reflective Glass?

New iMacs to Feature Thinner Footprint, Anti-Reflective Glass?

With the release of Intel’s new Ivy Bridge chips just around the corner, the iMac is set to see a pretty significant update this year. New reports (via MacRumors) suggest that Apple’s new iMacs may feature a thinner build and anti-reflective screens.

DigiTimes reports on a tip claiming that new anti-reflective glass from G-Tech may make it’s way to the new models:

G-Tech is also expected to supply AR (anti-reflective) glass solutions for Apple’s all-in-one (AIO) PCs with the new products to also serve as a growth driver for G-Tech, indicated industry sources.

Meanwhile, additional sources speaking to AppleInsider suggest that the new models with be thinner and lighter, and “will more closely resemble the footprint of today’s most popular LED televisions.”

While new iMacs and MacBooks could be released anytime after Intel releases their new processors, it’s likely that Apple will target the updates around the release of their new Mountain Lion operating system this summer.

As always, it’s worth taking such rumors with a grain of salt, but neither of these reports seems outlandish, and they are both within the realm of possibility.
