OS X Mountain Lion Seeded to AppleCare Reps, Likely to Launch on the 25th

The month of July is winding down, which means that Apple has only a short time left to keep their promise of a July launch for OS X Mountain Lion – and according to 9to5Mac, Apple has already begun providing their AppleCare reps with Mountain Lion, suggesting that the public release could happen within days.

AppleCare reps will of course need to become familiar with Mountain Lion in order to provide support to customers. This is typically among the last steps that Apple takes before publicly launching an OS X update.

Further, Apple will be holding their quarterly earnings call on the 24th, and the release of OS X Lion last year occurred the day after their conference call, making the 25th a very likely release date for Apple’s next-gen operating system (as previously rumored).

The build number of the seed provided to AppleCare reps also matches the Golden Master build seeded to developers earlier this month. So make sure your Mac is ready, and sit tight – Mountain Lion will be here any day now!

OS X Lion will cost just $19.99 when it is released, will sport a plethora of new features, and will be available only through the Mac App Store. And don’t forget – if you purchased a new Mac after June 11, your Mountain Lion upgrade is free!
