Widespread iPod nano Shortages Hint at Imminent Refresh

Apple’s iPod nano seems to be in short supply at a number of retailers, as noted by 9to5Mac, including massive sites such as Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Wal-Mart, which all show several models as out of stock.

Supply constraints are a good sign that Apple is planning to release new models soon – and given that a new iPod nano is rumored for release in September, it’s lo0king pretty likely that the iPod nano is about to get a refresh!

The shortages aren’t exclusive to the U.S., either – Amazon.co.uk is also out of stock of several models! The first signs of possible iPod nano shortages appeared last week, when a German rewards club told their members that they could no longer order the nano because a new model would be released soon.

It’s unclear what changes Apple will make to the nano, but it is likely to have a smaller dock connector at the very least. Further rumors claim it may have Bluetooth, allowing it to work more effectively as a smart watch.
