So you decided to jump on board and pick up an iPhone or iPod touch, or perhaps even an iPad or iPad mini. Now you’re tasked with learning all the nuances of your new device. Sure it seems fairly simple (trust us, Apple made it that way!), but there are always little things that might not be front and center that could really be useful. Ethervision’s new “Tips & Tricks for iOS 6 & iPhone 5” is a great – and thorough – way to learn all about the capabilities of your new iDevice.
Tips and Tricks for iOS 6 & iPhone 5 ($0.99 in the App Store) is a universal app for your iDevice, and is one of the most complete and in-depth guides I’ve seen on the App Store. Featuring descriptive audio and screen-captured video, this guide can teach you how to use over 100 of iOS 6’s features.
Choosing your tutorial can be done in one of two ways. The first method is to choose a category from the bottom. There are 10 options to choose from, including Siri, shortcuts, troubleshooting, sound & call options, and more. The second option, which I found to be much more fun, is to simply scroll through the hanging panels and watch whatever tutorial I landed on. This, to me, is the best way to learn, because if you’re new to iOS, you may not know what you’re looking for or what your iDevice is capable of until you see it.
With so many videos to choose from and things to learn about your device, the app itself weighs in under 200 MB, and features a separate video for every tip or trick. Each video within Tips & Tricks for iOS 6 and iPhone 5 is relatively short and to the point, which means that regardless of your age (or attention span), you can follow along with ease.
Verdict: [rating: 4]
When the teams at Apple developed the iOS operating system, simplicity and user-friendly design was at the center of their focus. Learning all the ins-and-outs of Apple’s mobile OS gets even easier with a handy assistant to reference whenever you’re stuck. Tips & Tricks for iOS 6 and iPhone 5 uses the ever-growing popularity on DIY/self-help videos to teach you to be a master of your iDevice.
