Following the release of the OS X Mavericks GM through Apple’s online Developer Center last week, Apple has now begun seeding the update through the built-in OS X Software Update tool (via the Mac App Store) as well. Our own Ian Fuchs spotted the update this morning, and kindly alerted us.

The move is a bit of a break from tradition. Apple typically does not allow updates to a Golden Master via Software Update, instead requiring users to download and install it as a fresh update. This helps insure that all old or unnecessary files and settings from beta versions are completely overridden.
Nevertheless, for those of you who have a Developer Preview and still haven’t updated to the GM, the option is now available through Software Update. Enjoy!
