Apple’s App Store, iTunes Store, Others are Down

A number of Apple services have experienced an extended period of downtime Wednesday morning, including the iTunes and App Stores. Users report various error messages when attempting to download or purchase items.

MacTrast attempted to buy an app, and also update two apps already installed on our iPhone, and the results can be seen in the video below. While we did not receive any error messages, tapping the “UPDATE” button for an app resulted in a short spinning update animation, which quickly returned to an UPDATE button.

MacRumors reports the outage is affecting users in the United States, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, India and many other countries worldwide. While the downtime appears to have been going on for an extended period of time, Apple’s System Status page shows all services as up and running.

From 9to5Mac:

From comments and tweets, it seems a whole bunch of Apple’s online services have been hit, including iCloud, iTunes and Game Center.

We’ll let you know when everything returns to normal.

We’re working to make all of the services available to customers as soon as possible, and we thank everyone for their patience,” Apple said in a statement to CNBC.
