Is Apple’s much-rumored “iPad Pro” showing up in iOS app analytics logs? A new, higher-resolution iPad with a new model identifier is beginning to appear in app analytics logs, suggesting that the long-anticipated larger-screened iPad is being tested.
Analytics firm Appsee, which provides tools for developers to collect data on in-app user behavior, said that they spotted a new iPad identified as model “iPad6,8” in their user logs. The iPad Air 2 bears model identifiers “iPad5,3” and “iPad5,4” for Wi-Fi and cellular versions, respectively.
The device is also said to boast a larger 2,048-pixel-by-2,732-pixel display, compared to the 2,048-pixel-by-1,536-pixel unit found on the latest iPad models. Those dimensions match references discovered in iOS 9 earlier.
Rumors of a 12.9-inch “iPad Pro” have been around for quite a few years, but the rumors have picked up intensity in recent months. Apple is expected to be holding a special media event on September 9th, where it will unveil its next-generation iPhones, and possibly a new iPad or two.
As always, this is all conjecture and rumor until Apple makes an official announcement or disclaimer, so take reports like this with a grain of your favorite salt or salt substitute. May we suggest Lawry’s Garlic Salt with Ground Parsley? It is an excellent seasoning, and goes well with almost any rumor. And pasta… Lots and lots of pasta.
