If you’re like me, your finger doesn’t always hit the spot you’re aiming for on a touch screen. Especially a smaller touch screen like the Apple Watch has. I love the stand notifications on my Watch, as it gets me up and around for a few minutes that I would normally spend sitting at my desk.

When the notification appears at 10 minutes to the hour, I usually tap “OK,” and get up and take a short walk, usually to the kitchen to get another cup of coffee. However, this morning, my fat finger hit the “Mute Notifications” button instead of “OK.” Well, crap.

Even though the Mute mode only lasts for a day, I wanted it turned back on now. (I’m an immediate gratification sort of guy, don’t ya know!) I began searching for a way to turn the notifications back on, and stumbled across the correct place to change it.

If you accidentally hit the “Mute for Today” button on your Apple Watch, and don’t notice the helpful tip below it before tapping, like I did, go to your iPhone, and open the “Watch” app.

Now, tap the “My Watch” tab, (lower left-hand corner of the screen, and then scroll until you see the “Activity” menu option. Tap that. At the top of the “Activity” screen, you’ll see the “Mute Reminders for One Day,” switch. Since you tapped the wrong button on the Apple Watch, this toggle switch is likely in the “ON” position, (it’s showing as green).

If the switch is green, tap it, and that will toggle it to the “OFF” position. You will now receive Stand, and other Activity notifications once again.

The Mute switch is also particularly useful if you need to turn off reminders for a day, such as when you’re feeling particularly sloth-like, or when you’ll be driving for 10 hours and won’t have the chance to stand up. (Well, except for um, bio-breaks, and if you’re taking those every hour, make an appointment with your doctor. Seriously dude, you are not supposed to pee that much…)
