Apple TV App, Including Apple TV+ Now Available on Select 2019 LG TVs

LG on Monday announced that the Apple TV app is now available for compatible 2019 LG smart TVs in the United States and more than 80 other countries. The Apple TV app includes access to the Apple TV+ streaming service.

Easily accessed from the LG Home Launcher, the Apple TV app gives LG TV owners the ability to subscribe to and watch Apple TV+, Apple’s new video subscription service that features popular Apple Originals such as “The Morning Show,” “See,” “Servant” and “Little America.”

The Apple TV app also allows LG TV owners to subscribe to Apple TV channels — direct subscriptions to premium video services — and also offers access to users’ iTunes video libraries and buy or rent over 100,000 movies and TV shows.

The company did not provide an exact list of compatible televisions. However, it did note that all 2019 OLED TVs and NanoCell TVs (series SM9X and SM8X) are now compatible with Apple technologies including Apple TV, AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. The AirPlay 2 and HomeKit features were rolled out in a software update in July 2019.

The Apple TV app and Apple TV+ will be available on 2020 TVs at launch and on LG’s 2018 TVs later this year via an over-the-air firmware upgrade.
