Apple Employee at Cork, Ireland Campus Tests Positive for Coronavirus

Apple Employee at Cork, Ireland Campus Tests Positive for Coronavirus

Apple announced today that an employee of its Cork, Ireland campus has tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus. and is now in isolation. The company is conducting a deep cleaning at all of its offices and retail stores.

Some Apple workers are told to stay at home as Apple cooperates with local health officials as the situation is assessed. Apple has told staff at its corporate offices around the globe to work from home if their job allows it.

Apple says it is also deploying new measures to ensure the safety of staff that remains in the offices. The policies include reducing employee numbers at campuses to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus on campus. The company has also reduced or canceled Genius Bar and “Today at Apple” session hours at retail stores in numerous countries.

The company is expected to cancel its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) which is usually held in June, due to the County of Santa Clara’s Public Health Department issuing a mandatory order that requires all mass gatherings of 1,000 or more people in Santa Clara County to be canceled.
