Leaker Prosser: iPhone 12 Storage Capacities to Start at 64GB, Pro Models at 128GB

We’re expecting to see Apple hold their iPhone 12 event on October 13, where Apple will unveil their 2020 5G iPhone lineup. The Cupertino firm is expected to ship its more affordable 5.4-inch “mini” and 6.1-inch devices first, followed soon after by the more expensive 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Pro devices. Leaker Jon Prosser has doubled down on the October 13 date and has provided what he claims are the storage options for the device lineup.

Prosser says the initial shipment of iPhone 12 units will go out to distributors on October 5, readying for the October 13 event. Prosser says the shipments will include the 5.4-inch ‌iPhone 12‌ “mini” – which he claims is “definitely the final marketing name” – and the lower end 6.1-inch ‌iPhone 12‌ model.

Prosser says the two higher-end Pro models will be unveiled at the October 13 event but will ship in November.

Prosser’s tweet also mentions the storage options for the new iPhones, claiming that the more affordable models will come in 64, 128, and 256GB storage capacities. That conflicts with a claim he made in May that the entire iPhone lineup would start with 128GB storage. Prosser explains that away by saying that was due to misinformation that was given “well before even the [production validation test] ‌iPhone 12‌ units had started.”

Prossers claims jibe with other well-known leaker L0vetodream, who as early as last May claimed the more affordable 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch devices will start with 64GB while the Pro devices will start with 128GB.

As is usual with reports like this, take them with a grain of your favorite low-sodium salt substitute. We won’t know anything for sure about the new iPhone 12 lineup until Apple takes the virtual stage later this month. Stay tuned.
