Dropbox Rolling Out Expanded Support for macOS 12.5 and Later

Dropbox Rolling Out Expanded Support for macOS 12.5 and Later

Dropbox on Tuesday announced it is rolling out an update that provides expanded support for macOS 12.5 and later. All users should have the update by May 2023.

To receive the update, Basic, Plus, Professional, and Family plan customers just need to turn on early releases and keep watch for a notification to opt-in to get the beta, while Standard, Advanced, Enterprise, and Education customers need to contact the Account Team or Customer Support.

Currently, it’s no longer possible to open online-only files (placeholders) stored in the cloud. That’s because macOS 12.3 no longer supports an old extension used by cloud services, which has also affected Microsoft OneDrive.

While Dropbox had said that a new public beta of the Dropbox app for macOS would be available “early in Q4,” suggesting that the update would arrive sometime between October and December 2022 for everyone. Development has apparently met with some delays.
