Apple Internally Testing iOS 17.1.2 Update for iPhone

Apple Internally Testing iOS 17.1.2 Update for iPhone

Apple is reported to be internally testing an iOS 17.1.2 update for the iPhone, according to MacRumors, which has seen evidence of the new update in their website’s analytic logs over the last few days.

As iOS 17.1.2 is a minor update the release should be focused on fixing various bugs but at this point we don’t know exactly what bugs might be addressed. However, possible fixes could include a fix for the WiFi issues some users continue to experience following the 17.1.1 update, which was released earlier this month. Other possible fixes could include fixes for minor bugs related to push notifications and HomeKit.

We likely won’t see a public release of iOS 17.1.2 any time this week, as Apple traditionally does not release any updates or betas during the week of Thanksgiving Day. (Most corporate Apple employees get the week off.) So, we may see the new update sometime next week.

iOS 17.2 has been in beta testing for nearly a month, and will likely be released in mid-December.

iOS 17.2 adds the Journal app, which allows iPhone and iPad users to record their daily activities and thoughts. The app offers prompts that can be used as inspiration for entries, and journal entries can include images, voice recordings, location tags, and more.

Collaborative playlists come to Apple Music, allowing users to create playlists that multiple people contribute to, and there’s also now a Favorites playlist that includes all of the music you’ve favorited. Stickers can be used as tapback reactions in the Messages app, the Action Button on the iPhone 15 Pro models can now be set to start. new Translate function and Apple has included support for iMessage Contact Key Verification.

New Weather and Clock widgets are part of the update, along with tweaks to the TV app, updates to Message syncing across devices, new Memoji options, and more.
