Apple is delaying the launch of its much-rumored smart home hub due to delayed Siri features, says Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. Gurman says he doesn’t expect Apple’s home hub to launch as he had expected, but didn’t furnished an updated timeline for the release of the device.
“At one point, the company had hoped to announce this product in March,” he said, in his Power On newsletter today. “But because the device, to an extent, relies on the delayed Siri capabilities, it has been postponed as well.”
Although the device’s release to the public has been delayed, Apple is allowing select employees to test a pre-release version of the device in their homes.
Apple last week said that iPhone and iPad users will have to wait longer than expected to develop some of its planned Apple Intelligence features for Siri.
An Apple spokesperson told Daring Fireball’s John Gruber:
“Siri helps our users find what they need and get things done quickly, and in just the past six months, we’ve made Siri more conversational, introduced new features like type to Siri and product knowledge, and added an integration with ChatGPT. We’ve also been working on a more personalized Siri, giving it more awareness of your personal context, as well as the ability to take action for you within and across your apps. It’s going to take us longer than we thought to deliver on these features and we anticipate rolling them out in the coming year.”
The more personalized Siri will likely launch at some point between iOS 19 in September 2025 and iOS 19.4 in March 2026.
The new smart home hub is expected to resemble a HomePod with a screen, including a 6-inch or 7-inch display, an A18 chip, and Apple Intelligence support.
