Apple today seeded the release candidates of its upcoming iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5 updates to developers for testing. The new release candidates come one week after the release of the fourth betas.
Developers and public beta testers can download the RC by going to the Settings app, then tapping on “General” -> “Software Update” on iPhone and iPad devices.
Release candidates are uually identical to the final version of the software that will be released to the public provided that no show stopping bugs be found.
In addition to the usual bug fixes and such, iOS 18.5 and iPadOS 18.5 also introduce a few new design changes, more options for reverting the Mail app back to the prior design (including removing contact photos), and AppleCare information has been easier to find. The Release Candidates will also include the Pride wallpapers that Apple announced on Monday.
If we find out any other new or revamped features, we’ll we’ll update you in this space.
As usual, MacTrast and Apple both warn users to not install any betas on their daily driver iPhone or iPad. Instead, only install betas on a device set aside for testing purposes.
