Digital Chat Station claims Apple is planning to make a series of phased industrial design changes affecting different parts of the ‌iPhone‌ across three consecutive years: 2025, 2026, and 2027. The changes are reportedly in the rear camera system, front-facing components, and providing a full-screen experience via the complete removal of visible sensors.

The iPhone 17 is widely expected to boast a redesigned back side, boasting a new horizontal camera layout. The change would be the first major change to the rear-facing camera module since the iPhone 11 Pro’s debut.

For 2026, Apple is said to be working to make changes to front-facing components, removing the pill-shaped Dynamic Island cutout that houses the front camera and Face ID components. It will be replaced with a single circular punch-hole cutout for the front-facing camera. Meanwhile, Face ID hardware will be hidden under the display.

As for 2027, Apple is working to provide a full-screen, uninterrupted screen experience with no visible holes, notches, or other blemishes. The Face ID and front camera system will both be hidden beneath the display.

Digital Chat Station doens’t specify whether the changes will be made across the entire iPhone lineup, or whether the change will be limited to the Pro lineup.
