New Videos Highlight Magnifier on Mac and iPhone Music Haptics

Apple today posted two new videos, highlighting its upcoming Accessibility features that will debut in iOS 19 and macOS 16 later this year, while the second video features Music Haptics on ‌iPhone‌. Apple on Tuesday announced a laege number of new Accessibility features that will be coming this fall, in honor of Global Accessibility Awareness Day.

The first video, now available on Apple’s main YouTube channel, shows off the Magnifier on Mac feature. While the video was included in Apple’s newsroom post on Tuesday, the videe is more convenient to view on YouTube for many viewers. In the spot, a student connects her iPhone MacBook in the classroom, zooming in on the chalkboard so she can better view her professor’s notes and diagrams.

The Magnifier app on the Mac, will allow users with low vision to connect an iPhone or USB camera to zoom in and read text on objects around them, such as a screen or whiteboard. With multiple live session windows, users can multitask by viewing a presentation with a webcam while simultaneously following along in a book using Desk View. With customized views, users can adjust brightness, contrast, color filters, and even perspective to make text and images easier to see. Views can also be captured, grouped, and saved to add to later on. Additionally, Magnifier for Mac is integrated with another new accessibility feature, Accessibility Reader, which transforms text from the physical world into a custom legible format.

The second video was shared by Apple on the Apple Music YouTube channel, and highlights the Music Haptics on ‌iPhone‌. Music Haptics, which debuted alongside iOS 18, provides taps, textures, and vibrations to the audio of music that’s playing, allowing users who are deaf or hard of hearing to experience songs.

As mentioned by MacRumors, Apple plans to expand Music Haptics features in iOS 19, adding new customization options that will allow experiencing haptics for a whole song or just for vocals, and will offer settings to adjust the intensity of taps, textures, and vibrations.
