PlayStation 5 Owners Can Now Use Apple Pay to Make Purchases on Their Console

PlayStation 5 owners can now pay for the purchase of games and other content on their consoles with Apple Pay, reports 9to5Mac.

How to use Apple Pay to Pay on the PlayStation 5 (PS5)

When checking out on your PS5, you’ll see a new option to make a purchase using Apple Pay. When you opt to use Apple Pay, the screen will display a unique code that you’ll scan with your iPhone or iPad’s camera. Once you’ve successfully scanned the code, you’ll see the native Apple Pay checkout sheet pop up on your iPhone or iPad, and you can then choose which card to use and authenticate the payment using Face ID or Touch ID as you normally do for an Apple Pay transaction.

Apple added support for making purchases via this code-based system alongside the release of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 last fall. The same method can be used to make Apple Pay payments for purchases made in Chrome and other browsers.

While paying with Apple Pay is currently only available on the PS5, it is expected to come to the PlayStation 4 (PS4) in a future software update. As pointed out by 9to5Mac, while using Apple Pay to purchase games and content might not be as convenient as simply saving your credit or debit card to your PlayStation account and making a one-click purchase, using your Apple Card to pay via Apple Pay for PS5 purchases means you’ll get 2% Daily Cash back, which can add up and will come in handy when buyin a new game or in-game content.
