Apple Explains Why iPhone Mirroring Will Continue to be Unavailable in the EU

Apple’s year-old iPhone Mirroring feature in macOS remains unavailable in the European Union and it will continue to be missing in action in the EU on macOS Tahoe 26.

Apple has told French tech website Numerama that iPhone Mirroring will remain unavailable in the European Union for now, thanks to the continued regulatory uncertainty in the region.

MacRumors notes that while the Apple spokesperson did not go into detail, the Cupertino firm could be worried that the European Commission might require it to offer iPhone Mirroring on non-Apple platforms, such as Windows and may also be forced to offer Android Mirroring on the Mac. The company is also concerned that by offering iPhone Mirroring on the Mac might give the European Commission more ammunition to designate macOS as a “gatekeeper” platform like iOS and iPadOS, which would result in the platform being subjected to stricter rules in the EU.

Introduced on macOS Sequoia last year, iPhone Mirroring allows users to fully access and control their iPhone directly from their Mac, allowing them to use their iPhone apps, receive their iPhone notifications, and more, right on their Mac.
