Apple is widely-expected to release new M5-powered iPad Pro models later this year, and a new report says the OLED panel suppliers for the new iPad Pros, Samsung Display and LG Display, have kicked off mass production of the displays.
Apple’s current 11-inch iPad Pro models have OLED display panels manufactured by Samsung, while LG manufactured the 13-inch panels. Earlier this year, ZDNet Korea reports that the two manufacturers will share supply for both panel sizes. The move is likely due to Apple’s efforts to diversify its supply chain.
Apple is also expected to introduce OLED panels for the iPad mini in 2026 and the iPad Air in 2027.
In addition to OLED displays, the current M4-powered iPad Pro models boasted a thinner and lighter design, compatibility with the new Apple Pencil Pro. This year, no major upgrades are expected other than the M5 chip. The new chip should offer performance and efficiency improvements, as it will be manufactured using TSMC’s more advanced 3-nanometer process.
In March, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman said we should see new iPad Pro models launch around October of this year.
