Apple Accidentally Promotes Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip7 (UPDATE – It Was a Client-Side Bug)

(UPDATE 4:20 p.m. CT) – An Apple spokesperson made the following statement: “Apple Support has only posted Apple content. We are working with Weibo to understand how this happened.” As reported by 9to5Mac, what appears to have happened is that a Weibo client-side bug caused the text of the Apple Support post to be posted mistakenly alongside the Samsung video.

The official Apple support account on China’s Weibo has accidentally posted a promotional trailer for Samsung‘s Galaxy Z Flip7.

The uploaded video promoted Samsung’s latest flip-style clamshell device rather than Apple’s iPhone or other Apple product. The social media post was quickly deleted, but not before video capturing the blunder circulated across the internet.

No one has officially stepped forward to own the screw-up, but the most popular theory is that someone working at an outsourced agency that handles marketing assets for both Apple and Samsung in the region grabbed the wrong video file and published without ensuring they had the correct content.

The blunder comes at a time when most expect Apple to release a foldable iPhone next year to compete in the foldable device market, a market the Samsung basically dominates at the current time.

Apple is expected to launch a book-style foldable with a crease-free 7.8-inch inner display, a 5.5-inch outer display, a titanium chassis, dual rear cameras, and Touch ID instead of Face ID. The device is expected to debut in September 2026.
