Apple is is moving its Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Shadyside retail store to a new permanent location. The store is set to move down the street from its current location, relocating from 5508 Walnut Street to 5436 Walnut Street, just west of Bellefonte Street. Apple Shadyside first opened in September 2004.
The new store is in a two-floor storefront that was previously occupied by clothing brand Gap. As you might expect, Apple has extensively renovated the unit, including an all-new facade.
The new store will hold its grand opening on Saturday, August 9 at 10 a.m. local time, according to Apple’s website. The original Apple Shadyside store will be closing as part of the move.
The new store is significantly larger than the store that is closing. The store’s updated design will likely include an Apple Pickup station to allow for in-store online order pickup, as well as a Genius Bar. Apple’s newer stores make use of more engineered wood in the place of the stainless steel used in classic Apple Stores.
