It appears we will finally see the Apple Watch Ultra 3 debut later this year, and a new report claims it will boast two key new features, satellite connectivity and 5G support.
In his latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman said that the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will launch this year with “significant” new features, including satellite connectivity, which allows users to send text messages when Wi-Fi and cellular coverage is unavailable.
He also expects the Apple Watch Ultra 3 to support a special version of 5G for smartwatches. The existing Ultra models only support LTE.
Last year, Apple did not release an Apple Watch Ultra 3 model, instead it merely offered a black titanium case option for the Apple Watch Ultra 2. If the Ultra 3 does offer the above two new features, it will mark the first hardware upgrades for the Apple Watch Ultra since 2023.
We can also expect the Apple Watch Ultra 3 to boast an S10 chip or newer, faster charging, and a wide-angle OLED display that is brighter when viewed from an angle and a higher refresh rate for the always-on display mode, all of which debuted on the Apple Watch Series 10 last year.
