Gurman: ‘iOS 26 Public Beta to Drop This Week,’ Offers First iOS 27 Rumor

The first iOS 26 public beta should drop this week, says Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, in his Power On newsletter Sunday.

“All indications are that iOS 26 should go into the public beta phase this coming week,” said Gurman. Gurman last week posted on X that the iOS 26 public beta would likely be released on or around Wednesday, July 23.

The first public betas of iPadOS 26, macOS 26, tvOS 26, watchOS 26, and HomePod software 26 should also be released alongside the iOS 26 public beta. Apple is also planning to offer a public beta of its next major AirPods firmware update for the first time. However, Apple will not offer a visionOS 26 public beta, according to its beta website.

Interested Apple device users who want to try the public betas can sign up for free at the Apple Beta Software Program website. We strongly recommend that you do not install the beta on your daily driver devices.

Now for the iOS 27 rumor from Gurman.

Gurman says Apple will formally kick off development of iOS 27 soon, and the company plans to prioritize software features that are tailored for the much-rumored foldable iPhone, which is expected to launch in the second half of 2026.
