M5 MacBook Pro No Longer Scheduled to Hit Store Shelves in 2025

Apple doesn’t plan to release any MacBook Pro models powered by M5 chips in 2025, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman. Updated MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models will instead hit store shelves during the first half of 2026.

Gurman had previously said that Apple would debut the M5 ‌MacBook Pro‌ models in late 2025, but he no says Apple is “considering” pushing them back to 2026,”internally targeting” a launch for early next year.

Apple announced the current M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max ‌MacBook Pro‌ models back in in October 2024 and they were released in November 2024. This means Apple would be skipping a yearly refresh. New Macs typically hit store shelves in October or November, sometime after the company’s September iPhone event.

Gurman didn’t provide any reasons why Apple is “delaying” the launch of the M5 ‌MacBook Pro‌ models, but he says the timing is fluid, so we may still get new Macs before the end of the year.

The M5 MacBook Pro models are expected to have few upgrades, other than the M5 chip. Apple has bigger changes in the works for the M6-generation MacBook pro models, and will feature new case designs and OLED displays.
