New Data Released by IDC Shows Mac Shipments Are Continuing to Increase

Apple enjoyed the strongest year-over-year growth in global PC shipments among the top five vendors during the second quarter of 2025, according to new preliminary data released by IDC. Apple’s increase in sales comes despite 0% growth in the United States.

Apple’s global Mac shipments in the second quarter of 2025 rose to 6.2 million Macs, a 21.4% leap from the 5.1 million units it shipped during the same period last year, outpacing all other top five PC manufacturers. The Cupertino company’s global market share rose from 8.0% in the second quarter of 2024 to 9.1% in the 2025 second quarter, maintaining its fourth-place position behind Lenovo, HP, and Dell in terms of total volume.

As a whole, the PC market grew 6.5% year-over-year to 68.4 million units. Lenovo topped the market with its 17 million shipments, a 15.2% increase from the year prior. HP with 14.1 million units and Dell with 9.8 million, followed. Dell was the only one of the top five vendors to see a fall in numbers, sliding 3.0% from the same quarter in 2024.

Apple’s strong growth was due to its strong international performance, as it experiences a 9% year-over-year increase in shipments. Meanwhile, U.S. PC market had zero growth during the quarter. The numbers could be due to Apple and the other companies front-loading deliveries to the United States before impending Tariffs kick in.
