New Reports Reveal Foldable iPhone’s Thickness and Price

Apple’s much-rumored foldable iPhone (iPhone Fold? iPhone Bend? iPhone Gumby?) will likely have an eye-raising base price of $1,800 and $2,000 in the U.S., analysts at investment banking firm UBS said this week. If so, the foldable iPhone would be the highest-priced iPhone model ever, topping the Pro Max at $1,199 and up.

While the foldable iPhone is notably more expensive than other iPhone models, it’s in line with the devices it will be competing against, such as Samsung’s new Galaxy Z Fold 7, which starts at $1,999.99.

So, we know it’ll be expensive, but how about the foldable iPhone’s thickness?

Instant Digital today posted on Chinese social media platform Weibo that the foldable iPhone will have a thickness of at least 4.8mm. That’s only slightly thicker than how thick Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said it would be earlier this year, as he said the device would be as thin as 4.5mm when unfolded.

Kuo has also said the foldable iPhone may include two rear cameras, a single front-facing camera, and Touch ID integrated into the power button.

Instant Digital does have a decent track record when it comes to leaks about Apple’s upcoming devices, but we’ll just have to wait until the foldable iPhone is finally released and we can put a micrometer on it.
