Apple today raised the monthly price of a subscription to its Apple TV+ streaming service to $12.99 in the United States. The service launched in 2019 at just $4.99 per month, but has now increased three times since then. The price rose to $6.99 per month in 2022, and then to $9.99 per month in 2023. Today’s price increase also applies to select other countries.
Viewers that pay annually for their Apple TV+ subscription will continue to pay $99 per year in the U.S., and Apple One bundle prices will stay the same.
The new pricing tiers are as follows:
- Apple TV+ (monthly): $12.99
- Apple TV+ (annually): $99 ($8.25 per month)
- Apple One Individual (Apple TV+, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and 50 GB iCloud+ storage): $19.95 per month
- Apple One Family (Apple TV+, Apple Music Family, Apple Arcade, and 200 GB iCloud+ storage): $25.95 per month
In a statement shared with 9to5Mac, Apple said that Apple TV+ has expanded its library of originals since launch, and that Apple One is the “the easiest way to enjoy all of Apple’s subscription services in one plan at the best value.” A single subscription can continue to be shared with up to six people through Family Sharing.
The new price is effective immediately for new Apple TV+ subscribers, but various free trial options are available. Existing subscribers will see the price increase take effect 30 days after their next renewal date.
It should be noted that Apple TV+ is not the only streaming service to raise prices in recent years, as Netflix, Disney+, and other streamers have increased subscription prices in recent years.
