iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro Lineup Battery Capacities Leaked Via Regulatory Database

iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro Lineup Battery Capacities Leaked Via Regulatory Database

Apple will unveil its iPhone 17 lineup on Tuesday and the battery capacities for the devices in the new lineup have apparently been revealed via a Chinese regulatory database.

The table below lists the alleged battery capacities for each model, which were shared in a post on X today by an account known as ShrimpApplePro(Via MacRumors)

Model With SIM Card Tray Without YoY Increase (Maximum)
iPhone 17 3,692 mAh +3.7%
iPhone 17 Air 3,036 mAh 3,149 mAh
iPhone 17 Pro 3,988 mAh 4,252 mAh +18.7%
iPhone 17 Pro Max 4,823 mAh 5,088 mAh +8.6%

The database entries also indicate that the iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max models will be available both with and without a physical SIM card slot, depending on the country it is sold in. The database indicates that the base model iPhone 17 appears to have only one battery capacity.

We’ve seen previous rumors indicating that Apple was planning to eliminate the SIM card tray from iPhones in additional countries outside of the U.S. this year. However, the tray will likely continue to exist in some areas of the world, due to limited eSIM availability or for other reasons.

The iPhone 17 Air has been mentioned several times as lacking a physical SIM card slot, due to the super-thin design of the handset.

The iPhone models that will still be available with a SIM tray appear to have a slightly lower battery capacity then the eSim variants of the same models, likely due to the space the SIM card tray takes up in the device.
