MAC Becomes Fourth NCAA Football Conference to Use iPads for Video Replay During Games

Microsoft may have a grip on NFL sideline with its Surface tablet, but Apple’s iPad is slowly but surely taking over NCAA college football sidelines with its iPad. NCAA college football’s Mid-American Conference (MAC) today announced Apple is providing its 13 teams with iPads for video replay during the 2025 season.

This initiative strengthens coaching and in-game adaptability, equipping teams to make faster, more informed decisions while helping student-athletes visualize adjustments in real-time. This milestone underscores the MAC’s commitment to competitive excellence and its belief in advancing the game through smart, tech-forward investments. By adopting these tools, the MAC continues to ensure its programs are well-positioned to thrive in today’s evolving college football landscape.

MAC coaches are receiving iPad Pro models with the M4 chip and iPad Air models powered by the M3 chip, running DVSport’s 360 Rewind app for video replay. The app allows for coaches and players to make in-game adjustments on the fly.

“For today’s student-athletes, iPad feels second nature, making it a perfect fit on college football gamedays,” said Scott Brodrick, an iPad product marketing manager at Apple. “With its advanced display, powerful performance, fast connectivity, all-day battery, and the intuitiveness of iPadOS, it helps coaches and players make adjustments in real-time.”

The MAC conference joins three other college football conferences (the SEC, ACC, and Big Ten) that began using iPads for video replay on the sidelines during the 2024 season, after the NCAA changed its rules to allow the use of video replay on the sidelines.
