A small number of iPhone 17 owners say their new device intermittently drops its WiFi connection. The iPhone 17 began arriving on customers’ doorsteps on Friday.
Affected users say their WiFi connection, and occasionally their Bluetooth signal, drop when their iPhone 27 is locked or unlocked. User say the connection then resets after a few seconds.
“It’s like the chips that control WiFi and Bluetooth get reset every time you wake the phone,” writes one user on Reddit, who went on to say AirPlay is also unstable. Other iPhone 17 owners report they ar eunable to use CarPlay in their vehicles.
Some iPhone 17 owners that also own an Apple Watch report seeing the issue only while wearing the Watch. If the Watch is in an unlocked state, the issue rears its head. If the Apple Watch is locked or is removed from the user’s wrist, the connection issue ceases.
As first reported by MacRumors, while most reports involve the iPhone 17, some reports say there has been an issue with the iPhone Air and the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Apple has yet to comment on the issue. However, some users that have experienced the issue say they have reported the issue to Apple Support, and have been told that the problem is being escalated to Apple’s engineering staff.
Hopefully, the issue is connected to a software bug and will be fixed in an upcoming iOS 26 update.
