Tim Cook praises Trump’s ‘leadership and focus on innovation’ While Attending White House Dinner

Yesterday, Apple CEO Tim Cook attended a White House event on AI. The Wall Street Journal has now reported details about how the event went.

The WSJ reports that the list of tech CEOs at Thursday night’s dinner included Cook, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Microsoft founder and ex-CEO Bill Gates, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, and IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, among others.

OpenAI’s Altman thanked Trump for being “such a pro-business, pro-innovation president,” contrasting it with the Biden administration. Cook then took the opportunity to praise the President, while referring to Apple’s promised $600 billion American Manufacturing Program:

“I want to thank you for setting the tone such that we can make a major investment in the United States and have some key manufacturing here. I think it says a lot about your leadership and focus on innovation.”

During the event, Trump also discussed with Alphabet CEO Pichai about this week’s favorable decision in the antitrust case that could have compelled it to divest itself of Chrome and Android, while also stopping its search partnerships with Apple and other tech firms:

“You had a very good day yesterday,” Trump said. “Do you want to talk about that big day you had yesterday?”

“I’m glad it’s over,” Pichai said.

“Biden was the one who prosecuted that lawsuit,” Trump said. “You know that, right?”

The Journal also pointed out that tech titans Elon Musk and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang did not attend the function.
