Do Dwindling iPad Pro & MacBook Pro Supplies in Stores Indicate Updates Are on The Way?

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says dwindling inventories of Apple’s M4 iPad Pro and base model 14-inch MacBook Pro at the Apple retail store level indicate that new M5 versions of the devices will soon be on the way.

Gurman recently posted on X that inventories of the M4 iPad Pro are “fairly constrained” in Apple retail stores. He says that’s “a good as any sign” that a new M5 iPad Pro is headed soon to store shelves.

Gurman also notes that custom configurations of base level 14-inch MacBook Pros are tight until the end of October. Meanwhile, 14-inch MacBook Pro M4 Pro and M4 Max models. as well as 16-inch MacBook Pro models remain readily available.

Shipping delays aren’t the only evidence that new devices will soon land in stores.

The US Federal Communications Commission accidentally leaked multiple model numbers for new Apple hardware, including a new MacBook Pro and 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro in both WiFi and Cellular models.

Also, new unboxing videos from Russian YouTubers purport to offer a peek at a prerelease iPad Pro with an M5 chip.
