Apple today seeded the third beta of macOS Tahoe 26.2 to developers for testing. The new beta comes one week after the the second beta seed’s release.
Registered developers can download the new beta software through the System Settings app. The third macOS Tahoe 26.2 beta is currently limited to developers, but it will likely soon be released to public beta testers sometime in the next few days.
So far, we know the Reminders app is getting an option to have an alarm go off when a reminder is due, the News app has received some design updates, and new features are being added to the Podcasts app.
Plus, macOS Tahoe 26.2 beta 2 brought a new Edge Light feature that can be used for video calls. The feature provides a light border around the edges of the Mac’s display, acting like a physical ring light to provide improved lighting.
Edge Light uses the Neural Engine for positioning, so it is optimally placed around your face in the video frame. The light color can be adjusted from warm to cool, and the feature is available in video conferencing apps. The feature is only available on Macs powered by Apple Silicon.
As usual, MacTrast and Apple both warn users to not install any betas on their daily driver Mac. Instead, only install betas on a device set aside for testing purposes. Apple is expected to release macOS Tahoe 26.2 to the public sometime around mid-December.
