Apple Seeds Second tvOS 26.2 Release Candidate to Developers and Public Beta Testers

Apple today seeded a second release candidate of tvOS 26.2 and its HomePod Software 26.2, which is based on tvOS. The first release was released yesterday. THe new RC has a build number of 23K53, up from 23K51.

The release candidates can be downloaded from the Settings app on compatible Apple TVs.

Release candidates are usually identical to the final version of the software that will be released to the public provided that no show stopping bugs be found. ‌

tvOS 26.2 adds support for creating a profile without an Apple Account, and includes a dedicated ‌Apple TV‌ app kids mode that’s available for children’s profiles.

Apple doesn’t provide beta release notes, so it’s not clear what’s changed between the first RC and the second RC. However, a major bug may have been discovered after the initial RC release.

Apple is expected to release tvOS 26.2 and ‌HomePod‌ Software 26.2 to the public next week.
