OpenAI on Wednesday announced the launch of ChatGPT Health, a dedicated section of ChatGPT that securely brings users’ health information and ChatGPT’s intelligence together. The new feature allows users to ask health-related questions that are separated from their main ChatGPT experience.
“Health is designed to support, not replace, medical care. It is not intended for diagnosis or treatment. Instead, it helps you navigate everyday questions and understand patterns over time—not just moments of illness—so you can feel more informed and prepared for important medical conversations. To keep your health information protected and secure, Health operates as a separate space with enhanced privacy to protect sensitive data. Conversations in Health are not used to train our foundation models. If you start a health-related conversation in ChatGPT, we’ll suggest moving into Health for these additional protections.”
Users can connect various health data services such as Apple Health, Function, MyFitnessPal, Weight Watchers, AllTrails, Instacart, and Peloton, providing more personalized responses. Once connected with Apple Health, ChatGPT will be able to access your health and fitness data, including movement, sleep, and activity information.
ChatGPT Health can also integrate with your medical records, allowing ChatGPT Health to analyze your lab results and other aspects of your medical history to inform its answers to your health-related questions. OpenAI warns that ChatGPT Health is not intended to provide diagnoses or treatment and is not a substitute for consulting with medical professionals.
OpenAI assures users that ChatGPT Health has been developed with multiple layers of encryption and operates as a separate space with enhanced privacy. Conversations in Health are not used to train ChatGPT foundation models. If a health-related conversation id started in ChatGPT, it will suggest moving into Health for additional protections.
ChatGPT Health is launching with a waitlist to join a group of beta users, with users on ChatGPT Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans outside of the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom eligible to start. Medical record integrations and some apps are only available in the United States at the current time. Access to ChatGPT Health will expand to all users on web and iOS in the coming weeks.
Medical record integrations and some apps are available in the U.S. only, and connecting Apple Health requires iOS.
