Well-known leaker Digital Chat Station says the upcoming iPhone 17e will boast a Dynamic Island to replace the current iPhone 16e’ display notch, while keeping the 16e’s current 60Hz design to keep costs down.
The iPhone 17e will debut in the first half of the year. As previously mentioned, the core upgrade is the screen: a 6.1-inch 60Hz LTPS OLED display. Although it only has a 60Hz refresh rate, it features a dynamic island design, an upgraded A19 processor, Face ID facial recognition, and the added advantage of being the cheapest iPhone available. Sales are expected to far exceed those
The current budget-priced iPhone, the iPhone 16e, sports a notch at the top of its screen, resembling the iPhone 14 it is based on. It is likely that the iPhone 17e will be based on the iPhone 14’s successor, the iPhone 15, which was equipped with the Dynamic Island.
The leaker also reiterated his previous claim that the new budget iPhone will be powered by an A19 chip. Other rumors claim that while the iPhone 17e will use an A19, it will be downclocked.
The iPhone 17e is also expected to be equipped to use MagSafe chargers and accessories. Other reports indicate the 17e will use either the older C1 or a C1X modem, but no N1 wireless chip.
