Apple could demo immersive Formula 1 content on Apple Vision Pro at its upcoming March 4, “Apple Experience” media event, says Daring Fireball‘s John Gruber.
A reader pointed out that the 2026 Formula 1 season starts in Australia on March 8. You will recall from October that Apple TV is now the exclusive broadcast partner for F1 in the U.S. Apple is already dabbling with live immersive sports broadcasting for VisionOS with a limited slate of Lakers games this season. If they have something planned for streaming F1 races live on Vision Pro, with some level of immersion, March 4 would be a pretty good date to demo that experience to the media.
Could just be a total coincidence that the Formula 1 season is starting the weekend after this event. But it seems worth noting.
The timing is right for such a demo, as the 2026 F1 season hits the track running in Australia on March 8, just four days after the Apple event, which is set to be held in New York, London, and Shanghai.
Apple signed a deal to be the exclusive U.S. broadcast partner for Formula 1 last October. The company has been experimenting with live immersive sports on Vision Pro, with with a small number of Los Angeles Lakers games this season. Apple has said that additional details on “new ways to enjoy F1 content” across its products will be shared in the near future.
Gurber says he has no inside sources on this one, and is instead more of a gut feeling that was shared with him by one of his readers and that he is sharing now. “Could just be a total coincidence that the Formula 1 season is starting the weekend after this event,” he writes. “But it seems worth noting.”
Apple is holding a “special Apple Experience” for select members of the media, to be held in three major cities: New York, London, and Shanghai on March 4, 2026 at 9:00am ET.
Apple could use the “experience” to debut a new product or products, as several are expected to be unveiled in the coming months, including the iPhone 17e, M5 Pro and M5 Max-powered MacBook Pro models, a new iPad Air, and a new iPad. A new Studio Display and an all-new budget-priced A18-powered MacBook are also rumored, as well as a revamped Apple TV and HomePod mini.
