Apple is considering new colors for the the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max this year, and among the colors being considered is one that hasn’t been used on an iPhone since the iPhone 14 lineup.
Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman says Apple. is testing a “deep red” finish for use on the two upcoming devices. If Apple does offer a red color option in the fall, it would mark the first time Pro and Pro Max models have been made available in that color, and it would be the first time any iPhone has been available in that color since Apple released its (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus.
That said, the color Gurman describes sounds more muted and burgundy-like than a bright red color.
Gurman says that while previous rumors indicated Apple was considering purple and brown finished for the iPhone 18 Pro models, he believes that those two color options are “just variants of the same red idea — given that the tones are fairly similar.” In other words, those two color options will not actually be offered in the fall.
Gurman also mentions color option for the “iPhone Fold,” saying Apple plans to “stay away from fun colors.” instead sticking to the more traditional space gray/black and silver/white finish options.
Apple will likely unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone Pro Max, and foldable iPhone models in September.
