The iOS 26.4 update that will likely be released to the public next week includes a fix for an irritating virtual keyboard problem. In the iOS 26.4 Release Candidate notes, Apple notes that the update brings “improved keyboard accuracy when typing quickly.”
iOS 26.4 Keyboard Fix
The fix resolves a bug that affected fast typers (so no me) where some characters appeared to be tapped on the keyboard, but to not appear in the typed text. This also affected the auto-correct feature, making it unable to predict what a user meant to type due to the missed character.
Many users complained that the keyboard had gotten worse in iOS 26, leading to more typos than previously.
iOS 26.4 Family Sharing Change
In iOS 26.4, Apple also makes a small but useful improvement in how Family Sharing works. Each adult member of a family can now use their own payment method to make purchases, instead of being forced to share a payment method with other family members.
Members of a Family Sharing group had been forced to use a single shared payment method for app and content purchases when purchase sharing is turned on. There was no option for family members to use separate payment methods.
Apple’s release notes mention the change, and Apple has also updated its purchase sharing support document.
The old wording:
When the family organizer turns on purchase sharing and other family members in the group also turn on purchase sharing, they get access to each other’s shared content, such as apps, music, movies, and more. The family organizer pays for everyone’s purchases unless they turn off purchase sharing.
The new wording:
When the family organizer turns on Purchase Sharing and the members enable the feature for their devices, they get access to each other’s shared content. The family organizer pays for everyone’s purchases unless they turn off Purchase Sharing or other adult family members use their own payment method to make purchases.
Adults in a Family Sharing group can still opt to use the organizer’s payment method, but now they can also set a separate payment method. The change makes it easier for users to share Apple content and subscriptions with friends, siblings, and others without being required to pay for that person’s purchases.
Previously, an option that allowed users to maintain an Apple Account balance to pay for purchases without having the Family Sharing organizer pay, but that required each Family Sharing member to make sure to reload their purchase balance.
Children’s Family Sharing accounts for will continue to use the organizer’s payment method for any purchases.
iOS 26.4 will likely be launched to the public sometime next week.
