After installing iOS 27, iPhone users will discover revamped personal audio controls, including an improved AirPods settings menu that should make the earbuds easier to manage. In addition to iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 users will also benefit from the changes.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his most recent “Power On” newsletter, saying:
Given the recent enhancements to AirPods that let the device recognize head gestures and work as a hearing aid, users have called for an app for managing controls — just like the company offers for the Apple Watch and Vision Pro. I don’t anticipate an AirPods app this year, but Apple has heard the feedback, I’m told. The company is revamping the AirPods settings menu to be more functional, better organized and more streamlined. That should mean the earbuds are easier to manage and major feature options are better highlighted. It will be a noticeable change in iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27.
The revamped settings menu will reportedly make it more functional and better organized, making it easier for AirPods users to manage their wireless earbuds.
Apple is likely making the changes in an attempt to appease users, many of who have urged the company to make a separate AirPods control app.
