Sony has launched “MLB The Show Mobile” for iPhone and Android. The game is free to play, with in-app purchases ranging from $2.99 player cards to a $99.99 “1st Inning 20 Booster Pack Bundle.”
MLB: The Show Mobile will require iOS 26, and while older iPhones running iOS 26 are compatible, the game will feature “enhanced graphics, increased frame rates, and higher resolutions” on iPhone 16 and up. Apple’s App Store listing says the game requires iOS 26 and an iPhone with an A12 Bionic chip or later, which includes devices as old as Apple’s iPhone XS and iPhone XR.
The Sony development team calls it “a new standalone experience built from the ground up to deliver realistic baseball gameplay on mobile devices.” The company says the new game is built around collectible player cards, progression systems, and competitive multiplayer modes.
“MLB The Show Mobile” includes more than 900 player cards alongside solo progression modes and head-to-head best-of-three PvP matchups. Sony says the game also features officially licensed MLB teams, athletes, and all 30 MLB stadiums.
From San Diego Studio, creators of the long running and critically acclaimed MLB® The Show™, MLB The Show Mobile combines authentic on-field MLB action with rewarding deck building and card strategy. Featuring officially licensed MLB and MLBPI teams and athletes across all 30 MLB ballparks, MLB The Show Mobile lets players collect and upgrade their own custom lineup from more than 900+ player cards including current stars and all-time greats. Each hand-built squad can then be used across a variety of single- and multi-player modes featuring on-the-field baseball action that’s dynamic and real-time, with easy-to-learn skill-based gameplay that puts pitching, hitting, base running, and defensive play at your fingertips.
The App Store listing also shows the can require as much as 4.66 GB of storage, depending on downloaded assets and updates. When I first opened the game, I had to wait while it downloaded more than 3GB of game assets before starting play.
“MLB The Show Mobile” is a free download from the App Store (with plenty of in-game purchases available, so Sony can keep the wolf from its door).
