Apple will launch a new iPhone Air in spring 2027, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. His sources tell him that the new iPhone Air could sport an Ultra Wide lens in addition to the Wide lens.
Current prototypes of the new model, code-named V62, add a second rear camera for ultrawide-angle photography, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the product hasn’t been announced. It’s now in advanced testing within Apple, they said.
The device has the same design as the current model with the exception of the extra lens.
Apple is also looking to improve the iPhone Air’s battery life, either via a bigger battery or improvements to power efficiency. The design of the new model is reportedly similar to the current design, meaning there may not be room for a larger battery. The device will be powered by an A20 chip built on Apple’s new 2nm process, so it better efficiency is a definite maybe.
Previous rumors have indicated that Apple is adding a second camera to the iPhone Air, due to user complaints about the device’s camera quality. The rumors said Apple’s second iPhone Air model could feature two rear cameras instead of one, with a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera placed alongside the existing 48MP Fusion Main camera.
The new iPhone Air is expected to be released alongside the iPhone 18 in 2027. Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and foldable iPhone are all expected to debut this September.
