Apple is expected to unveil new touchscreen MacBook Pro models later today, and as first reported by MacRumors, system assets have been discovered in macOS 27 that indicate the new laptops could display information in something similar to the iPhone’s pill-shaped Dynamic Island.
Many observers expect the new MacBook Pros to feature a Dynamic Island-like cutout for the FaceTime camera, doing away with the notch that has been part of the machine’s screen design since 2021.
Code excavator pdfu found the assets seen below and shared them on X, the assets are connected to AirPods connection, Focus activation, AirPods noise cancellation, low battery, and automatic audio switching.
The assets are linked to a new menu bar component called MenuBarAgent, which pdfu says “paves the way for a touchscreen Mac and a Dynamic Island.” He adds, “Some system compact and minimal views already ship.”
He also claims Siri AI will eventually occupy what he calls the new “system aperture” in a droplet-like design.
Apple is expected to unveil the redesigned 14-inch and 16-inch touchscreen MacBook Pro models later today, in connection with its “Pro and Tell” media experience that will kick off in Los Angeles at 10 a.m. Pacific Time/1 p.m. Eastern Time.
