Apple Manufacturing Academy Launches Virtual Training Program for First Time

Apple today announced an expansion of its Apple Manufacturing Academy, offering a set of online training programs for small- and medium-sized businesses in the United States.

The virtual courses cover a wide range of topics focused on advanced manufacturing, including automation, predictive maintenance, quality control optimization, and machine learning with vision.

This marks the first time the Academy’s training sessions have been available online. Previously, only in-person sessions had been available, requiring attendees to travel to Detroit. Apple says the free resource is intended to help accelerate innovation among American manufacturers. The program is part of Apple’s broader plans to invest $600 billion in the US economy over the space of four years.

“At Apple, we believe in the power of American ingenuity, and we’re proud to be delivering even more options to support small- and medium-sized companies across the country,” said Sabih Khan, Apple’s chief operating officer. “By bringing the Apple Manufacturing Academy curriculum online, we’re opening the door for even more businesses and workers to build cutting-edge expertise, helping fuel U.S. competitiveness and support the growth of advanced manufacturing nationwide.”

The Apple Manufacturing Academy in Detroit was launched in partnership with Michigan State University (MSU), and first opened its doors in August. It has since provided hands-on training and consultation to more than 80 businesses from states including Florida, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, and Utah.
